Bulgaria took its rightful place on the European SPA map

The town of Pomorie hosted the 18th ESPA Congress. It is the first time that such a high-ranking forum is being organized in Bulgaria. The Congress is one of the most significant events for 2013 in the fields of medical, SPA, and SPA and wellness tourism. Among the attendees were representatives of leading international companies, including hoteliers, tour operators, SPA equipment vendors and companies for spa products. The event was attended by mayors of Europe’s leading spa municipalities, representatives of health insurance funds, pension companies and experts in the field.

The Congress focuses the attention on Bulgaria as a destination, offering year-round, high-quality medical spa, and spa and wellness tourism.  According to Mr Ivo Marinov, the Deputy Minister of Economy, Energy and Tourism, the Congress itself is an appreciation of the significant role of Bulgaria in the development of spa and wellness tourism. In his emotional speech, Mr Stefan Sharlopov, the chairman of BUBSPA, said that an apostolic mission had become reality. After six years of hard work, Bulgaria took its rightful place on the European SPA map. There are more than 600 mineral springs in Bulgaria, the water from which is with proven healing properties. With this natural wealth our country stands a real chance to be among the leaders in the SPA tourism. This 18th ESPA Congress in the SPA capital of Bulgaria is a recognition and a reason for pride that our country not only is a destination, offering ski and sea tourism, but also a destination for various kinds of medical SPA, SPA and wellness tourism.

ESPA congress in Pomorie

MEET, the Bulgarian Union of Balneology and SPA Tourism and the Municipality of Pomorie organize the annual ESPA congress that will take place in Pomorie from May 14 to May 17 May, 2013. The congress is held under the auspices of the Prime Minister of the Republic of Bulgaria. It is the first time that Bulgaria hosts an annual congress of the European Spa Association – the organization, based in Brussels, comprising more than 20 European Union member states, developing in the fields of medical spa, spa and wellness. The Bulgarian Union of Balneology and Spa Tourism is a member of the European Spa Association from 2007.
Spa, balneotherapy and wellness services are very well combined with other specific types of tourism, such as eco, rural, adventure, etc., provided our resorts are located in environmentally preserved ecological areas with great biodiversity and in close proximity to many cultural and historical sites.

The event will be attended by the mayors of leading European spa municipalities (Germany, Portugal, Czech Republic, Hungary, Estonia, Lithuania, and Romania), representatives of European health insurance funds, pension companies and experts in the field.
The business program of the forum in Pomorie includes the participation of 17 governors from Russia, where the interest for spa services is getting stronger. The senior administrators will meet mayors and managers of Bulgarian hotels to discuss the opportunities for spa and wellness programs for employees of large Russian industrial sites. It is also expected that Bulgarian hoteliers will speak with experts from private health funds in various European countries for joint spa and medical projects. In Pomorie, for instance, for three years already spa sites have been working with German private health insurance funds, and also there is interest from Austrian, Cypriot and others, which have funds for such holidays for their members.
The forum will focus the attention on Bulgaria as a destination offering year-round, high-quality medical spa, spa and wellness products. With more than 600 exploited healing mineral water sources, our country stands a real chance of winning a place among the leaders on the European SPA map.

Sunset Resort Pomorie – Summer 2011 Review

Sunset Resort is located on the South beach of Pomorie, only 15km from International Airport Bourgas and 20km to the second lagest city on Bulgarian Black Sea cost – Bourgas. Sunset Resort consist of 5 Apart-hotels and 6 luxury boulevard villas with altogether area of 115 000 sq.m.

On every reception desk hotel’s complex guests could get an information about all additional services offered in Sunset Resort.

Alfa is an Apart-hotel with 7 floors, situated in south-western part of the complex. It has 85 apartments, reception desk, 2 elevators, grill restaurant with an outside terrace, underground garage.

Beta has 6 floors and is also located in south-western part of Sunset Resort. It has 63 apartments, reception desk, bar, 2 elevators, main restaurant with an outside terrace and underground garage.

Sigma is with 13 floors and is located straight in the center of the resort. It has altogether 327 apartments, reception desk, 6 elevators, lobby bar, 2 main restaurants, french restaurant, SPA and wellness center, vitamin bar, fitness, beauty salon, medical cabinet, indoor swimming pool, conference hall, business center, shop.

Delta has 6 floors and is situated in north-eastern part of the complex. It is consisted of two separate twin buildings with separate reception desks, there are 2 elevators in each building. The Apart-hotel has altogether 118 apartments, lobby bar, main restaurant, Asian restaurant, Viennese salon, piano bar, bowling hall, billiards, multifunctional hall, children club, shop for sports goods, underground garage.

Eta is with 6 floors, located in the most eastern part of Sunset Resort and has 178 apartments, reception desk, 4 elevators, lobby bar, Italian restaurant with an outside terrace, mini market and ATM terminal.

Sunset Resort has altogether 771 units, from which 728 apartments with one, two and three bedrooms, as well as 43 studios – each 35 sq.m. The bigger part of the apartments have a wonderful view to Black Sea and to water attractions in the hotel complex. From the other apartments one can see even the foot of the Mountain Stara Planina. All apartments are furnished the same way, including living-room, bedroom(s), kitchenette, table, TV SAT, folding sofa, phone, balcony or terrace, bathroom with bath-tub or shower, hair dryer and safe (rent).

SPA Center is located in Apart-hotel Sigma and has an area of 1000 sq.m. It offer a vast variety of massages, procedures, therapies and it is equipped with the newest and  contemporary facilities of the Austrian company Thermarium.

On area of over 3500 sq.m there are 4 outdoor swimming pools with an integrated children pools inside and water attractions. Apart-hotel Sigma has an indoor swimming pool with semi-Olympic size – 25m, jacuzzi and children pool with a water slide. For little guests there is a children corner in Apart-hotel Delta. In Apart-hotel Sigma you can find fitness, equipped with devices of the company LifeFitness. The hotel complex has also a bowling hall with 6 paths – equipment Brunswick, billiards, and electronic games. On the adjoining beach stripe – 400m long, there are many other possibilities for sport – beach volleyball, water wheels, delta-planner, etc.
